Don Elder of Track Aero is a retired aeronautical engineer with 40 years experience as a pilot, designer, engineer, engineering manager, technical program manager, full time university lecturer in aerodynamics and structures, and consultant to NASA. At Douglas Aircraft, where he was Assistant Chief of Aerodynamics, Don lead a group which specialized in the design and flight testing of body shaping for minimum drag, engine air intakes and internal airflow systems, all applicable to today's high performance race cars. While at Ford Aerospace Don contributed to the body lines and cooling systems for the Ford GT/40 race cars, and after forming Track Aero Racing Aerodynamics in 1985, he has assisted teams in all forms of racing with solving their aerodynamic problems and providing products for increased performance. His many contributions include wings, body modifications and airflow management on sprint cars, AA gassers AA/Funny cars and A/dragsters, wing designs and streamlining for USAC Super-modification to race cars which have lead to drag reduction, increased stability and immediate performance gains.
